Jurys Inn Bee Hotel
Role: Design and production.
Brief: Create an engaging and symbolic eco structure.
Response: The bee is a symbol of Manchester – in the 1800’s the city’s textile mills were coined as being a “hive of activity,” the workers “busy bees” and the idea of the hardworking bee has continued to symbolise the ever-growing city. There are no less than seven bees on the Manchester coat of arms and bees can be found everywhere across the city – from dustbins to clock faces. As part of the Jurys Inn refurbishment, Anomalous designed and built a Bee Hotel to provide some much needed shelter for their tiny guests.
Outcome: Active bee hive installation.
